Measuring Outcomes for Young Children and Their Families

This monograph includes the final report for this project, the scales developed to measure outcome for young children and their families, and all the materials used in the development of the scales and all study results. Head Start Teacher Effectiveness Project

This project is developing, implementing, and evaluating an approach to training that promotes Head Start teachers’ use of capacity-building early childhood classroom practices to enhance positive child outcomes. Project staff work with Head Start teachers to:

• Plan experiences that promote teachers’ learning


• Identify learning opportunities and teaching skills to improve teacher performance


• Develop a deeper understanding and broad-based use of newly learned knowledge and skills. The focus of training is classroom organization, naturally occurring classroom learning opportunities, and teacher instructional practices.
